It has been another busy week in school, and we would like to take a moment to highlight a few important matters.
As always, student attendance plays a critical role in ensuring successful learning outcomes. We kindly remind you of the importance of reporting any student absences promptly. Yesterday, you will have received an email outlining revised procedures for reporting both pre-planned absences (eg medical appointments) and absences on the day of the event. We have noticed that absences are being reporting in different ways and this is making it more of a challenge to identify quickly who is not in school. Therefore, parents are asked to only use the telephone absence line or Arbor message service to help streamline the process.
You will have also received an email regarding a new anonymous reporting system for students/staff and parent/carers. This initiative stems from feedback we received through the recent parent/carer survey, and we hope it will provide everyone with the confidence to share their thoughts and concerns in a safe and constructive manner.
Once again, in preparation for the upcoming exams, we are offering revision sessions for Year 11 students during the Easter holidays. A schedule of available sessions can be found here. While students have already been invited by their subject teachers, we kindly ask that parents and carers encourage their children to attend these invaluable sessions. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff who are dedicating part of their holiday to supporting our students — a true testament to their commitment.
The booking system for the Year 11 Parents' Evening is now open. This event will take place on Thursday 3 April from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the school. We strongly encourage you to book appointments via Arbor to discuss your child’s progress with their subject teachers ahead of the final exams. Should you encounter any issues with the booking process, please contact us at info@carisbrooke.iow.sch.uk for assistance.
We would also like to remind you of the upcoming SEND Voice: Parent/Carer Forum on Wednesday 26 March at 3:30 pm. This forum is open to all parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We will be discussing the parent voice on SEND that we have received through our parent carer surveys and would welcome parents who wish to come and review this information, hear about how the school has been moving forward, and reflect on future developments.
Finally, we would like to remind you that the Plaza Ices ice cream van will be available outside the school every Friday at 3:15 pm.
Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
