Today marks the conclusion of our Year 11 Trial Exams. I would like extend my congratulations to the Year 11 students on their conduct and maturity throughout the examination period. The results will be given to the students on 3 April followed by a Parents' Evening for parents/carers of Year 11 students. Appointment bookings for this event will open on Thursday next week, and a reminder will be sent out.
The final exams for Year 11 will commence on 8 May 2025. In preparation, we are once again holding some revision sessions during the Easter break. A detailed timetable will be shared via email next week. Please continue to encourage your child to revise for these exams and if they have any issues, to contact Mrs McDowall in the first instance.
Also during the Easter break, two of our Year 11 students will be attending a residential at Oxford University's Somerville College. This is the final part of an aspirational programme that they have benefitted from with an organisation called Universify; a charity that promotes open access to prestigious universities. Their programme started last summer when they attended a week-long residential at Oxford University, and they have had access to mentoring throughout this year. We wish them well for their Easter Residential and look forward to sharing more about this amazing opportunity after they return.
A special thank you to Mrs Smith for organising an outstanding trip to see Macbeth at the Globe Theatre in London this week. The performance was exceptional, and the students expressed their enthusiasm and appreciation for the experience. Read more about this below.
As a reminder, we are holding a SEND Voice: Parent/Carer Forum on Wednesday 26 March at 3.30 pm in school. If you are the parent or carer of a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we would be delighted if you could join us for a discussion on the Isle of Wight SEND Peer Challenge Report and its implications for Carisbrooke.
A national survey was launched this week by the government, looking at the challenges and priorities of young people aged 10-21 (or up to 25 for SEND). The results of the survey will inform a new 10-year National Youth Strategy to tackle the challenges for this generation and ensure every young person can thrive. Please share the link to the survey with your child: National Youth Survey
Next Tuesday, our Under-16 football team will participate in the Hampshire Football Tournament at Shanklin Football Club. We wish the team the best of luck and hope for a great result!
Lastly, a reminder that the Plaza Ice Cream van will be available outside the school every Friday at 3:15 pm.
Have a super weekend.
