Year 6 Transition
The move up to Secondary School is huge; there’s no doubt about it. Not just for the students themselves but for families too. However, we want to reassure you that as soon as your place is confirmed at Carisbrooke College, we are here to support you every step of the way. We work closely with the primary schools to ensure a smooth handover and that we get to know your child prior to their arrival in September, so we can really hit the ground running.
We welcome the opportunity to speak with parents and carers to answer any questions they have. Parents are welcome to contact the school to arrange a telephone call with Mrs Lythgoe, our Head of Year 7.
Mrs Lythgoe visits primary schools in the summer term, meeting each and every student, not just to welcome them but to also answer any questions they may have. The aim is to soothe any anxieties they may have and to share the excitement of joining our wonderful community.
An Admissions booklet and Getting to know our students booklet will be sent out to Year 6 parents at the start of the summer term. The completed forms should be returned to school in the prepaid envelope, as soon as possible.
At Carisbrooke College, we recognise that the move to secondary school is a huge event in a young person’s life. Throughout our robust transition programme, it is our aim to capture the natural anticipation and excitement that each child feels and provide rewarding and appropriate challenges that allow pupils to feel successful and confident about moving to secondary school.
