Head of School’s Blog – 24 May 2024
Welcome to this week’s blog.
Year 11 exams have continued this week with breakfast being served before their morning exams. We also continue to offer students a lunch time study area every day in S10 at 12.55 pm. During half term, the students need to take time to relax but not take their eye off the ball with their revision. There are some revision sessions being run in school during the half term – a letter was sent out to parents earlier this week and a copy can be found here.
I am delighted to inform you that the Wild Wax Melts team from Carisbrooke and Medina College have made it through three rounds of the Young Enterprise ‘Company of the Year programme to reach National Finals! Yesterday they attended the South East Regional finals at Samsung KX in London and won. They engaged in a rigorous process and were competing against mainly Sixth Form teams from independent schools. This is the first time that a team from the Isle of Wight has reached the National finals. The team have been an inspiration in terms of their entrepreneurship, energy, commitment and work ethic and are fine ambassadors for the schools and the Island. The National Final takes place online on 6 June, with the winners progressing to European finals in Sicily. We’re all very proud of them and wish them every success!
Congratulations to our highest achievement point winners from last week – Henry – year 7, Patience – year 8, Mia – year 9, Phoebe – year 10 and Shane, Dylan, Ethan and Tom – year 11.
School will begin again after the half term on Monday 3 June and I look forward to greeting students in full uniform and ready to learn.
Have a lovely half term break.
