Welcome to the last blog for this term. And what a week this has been! I would like to thank the staff and students for keeping learning as the priority this week whilst also enjoying the festive activities.

We had a delicious Christmas meal served by the canteen on Wednesday and, in the evening, I had the pleasure of attending our wonderful Christmas Concert at The Minster in Newport. Our students did Carisbrooke College proud with their musical performances and there was a great turnout from parents, friends and relatives. Thank you to everyone involved, especially Mrs Peckham for organising the event and all the staff helpers during the evening.

On Friday morning, the students were treated to a performance of our Staff Panto. They found it very amusing and it was a great event for our last day before the Christmas break. Thanks once again to all the staff involved in the Panto and for giving up their own time for rehearsals.

Friday afternoon was our annual Santa Dash. Over 250 students took part in the run from school to Carisbrooke Castle and back. The event raised £1270 for The Wight Brainy Bunch. Thank you to everyone who took part, it was a great, fun event and the students were excellent.

Thank you to everyone involved in the mufti day today. The donations for the food bank were extremely generous and they were very grateful for such a large donation. This will go towards making a better Christmas for some families in need.

Emails were sent out inviting parents/carers of Year 10 students to book appointments via the Arbor App for their parents’ evening on Thursday 9 January. If you have any issues booking appointments, please email donna.keogh@carisbrooke.iow.sch.uk.

All that is left for me to say is have a very enjoyable Christmas break, and please remind students in Year 11 to continue with their revision over the holidays.

I look forward to seeing all of our students in full uniform, with all equipment and ready to learn on 6 January 2025.
