Head of School’s Blog – 21 June 2024

Welcome to this week’s blog.

We have finally said goodbye to Year 11 – the last exam was on Wednesday. I am so proud of the way they have embraced the exam season. They were mature, positive and focused throughout their exams. I wish them all the best for their future plans and look forward to seeing many of them at the Prom in July. GCSE results day is 22 August – further information will follow about what that looks like.

We had our Sports Day for Years 7, 8 and 9 students on Wednesday. It was a massive success and the students really enjoyed themselves. They were all very competitive but with respect and kindness for each other. It was a pleasure seeing them leave school with their medals around their necks! Thank you to the PE team for organising such a great event.

Also on Wednesday, we had a group of year 10 geographers attend a trip to Sandown Bay as part of their GCSE coursework. The trip was very useful for the students and they thoroughly enjoyed it – and it stayed dry!

Next Wednesday, year 10 have their introduction to VI Form day. We hope they find this useful and informative.

On Tuesday 2 July we have our annual Awards Evening. If your child has been nominated for an award, you will have received a separate email inviting you to this prestigious event. It is looking to be a very busy evening and we’re all looking forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our students.

On Tuesday 9 July we have transition day and will be welcoming our new Year 7s for a day in the life of a Carisbrooke College student.

Congratulations to our highest achievement point winners from last week – Oliver – Year 7, Donovan – Year 8, Freya – Year 9 and Daniel and Lucas – Year 10.

If you are attending the Isle of Wight Festival this weekend, please stay safe and have fun!
