Head of School's Blog - 8 November 2024

We have had a very positive start to the half term with students looking smart, having the correct equipment with them and engaging in their learning.

Next week, Year 11 students have their first set of trial exams. This can be a stressful time for students so please remind them that staff are here to support them through this process and to speak to their tutor or Mrs McDowall if they have any concerns. It was great to hear from staff that revision sessions in the holidays were well attended - a huge thank you to the staff that ran them. These sessions are invaluable support in assisting your child in their GCSE final exams.

Congratulations to our Year 9 student, Summer, who has recently secured a spot in the National Academy for Archery. You can read all of the details here.

An email was sent to all parents/carers on Thursday with a link to our parent/carer survey. We would really appreciate your response to this as your opinion matters and allows us to see where we need to improve.

The uptake for the flu vaccinations this week was impressive. If your child did not receive the vaccination this time, the school nurses will be sending out information on how you can book an appointment to attend a local clinic.

On Monday 11 November, we will be holding our usual remembrance day service and students will be off timetable for approximately 15 minutes. We have poppies and a selection of other items in reception for students, parents, carers and staff in exchange for a cash donation.

As in previous years, we will be supporting the Food Bank collection leading up to Christmas. See below more information regarding this - if you have any items of pre packed food or toiletries, please drop them into reception. We will be collecting donations at reception from Monday 11 November.

Congratulations to our highest achievement point winners last week, Freddie and Ameila in year 7, Emilia year 8, Elana year 9, Liam year 10 and Liam year 11.

Have a lovely weekend.
