Head of School’s Blog – 3 May 2024
Welcome to this week’s blog.
Firstly I would like to say a huge congratulations to our two teams that made it through to the Young Enterprise Grand Final on Tuesday 30 April and came away with first and third place! Lissy, Molly-Nora and Morgan who are running ‘Insignia’ – designing, manufacturing and selling a range of badges – came third. Sophie, Freya and Archie (from Medina College) who are running ‘Wild Wax Melts’ – creating, manufacturing and selling handmade wax melts came first! This team also won the Dianne Butler Memorial Finance Award. What a fantastic achievement and I hope they are as proud of themselves as we are. Both teams are now going through to the regional finals on Wednesday 15 May – Good luck to you all!
We will be running our Parent Voice next Wednesday 8 May from 6 – 7 pm. This is open to parents/carers of all students at Carisbrooke and is a great opportunity to give you opinions and suggestions regarding the school. If you would like to attend, please email donna.keogh@iwef.org.uk.
Thank you to the parents/carers who came along to Year 8 Parents’ Evening yesterday. It was a very good turn out and I hope you found it useful meeting with your child’s individual subject teachers. We have Year 7 Parents Evening on Wednesday 15 May and you can book appointments for this using the Arbor App. If you are having any problems doing so, please email donna.keogh@iwef.org.uk.
In the news this week, the National Crime Agency issued an alert to all schools and parents and carers regarding financially motivation sexual extortion. A letter has been emailed to all parents/carers today with all of the information. Please do take time to read through this and discuss it with your child. Snapchat is particularly a problem and to help you understand how best to support your child with this, you can find an infographic here.
As this is a bank holiday weekend we look forward to welcoming students back into school on Tuesday 7 May. This day is also the beginning of the Year 11 exams and breakfast will be available from 8.00 am every day where there is a morning exam. This is an opportunity for students to speak to their subject teachers with any concerns before entering into exam conditions. I would like to wish Year 11 all the best and to remind them that if they have any issues, please speak to Mrs Smith or their tutor.
Congratulations to our highest achievement point winners from last week of term – Ellie – year 7, Summer – year 8, Ruby – year 9, Xanda – year 10 and Eleanor – year 11.
