Carisbrooke Blog - 7 February 2025

We’ve had another busy and exciting week here at Carisbrooke and the students have been making the most of every opportunity.

GCSE Music students had an inspiring "Audience with..." session on pathways into the music industry, while Year 9 took part in an incredible Music Careers & Live Performance event, led by Platform 1. The energy was electric! Hearing from real professionals about the endless possibilities in music was truly eye-opening, and the live performances were amazing. A huge thank you to Miss Peckham for making this happen!

On Thursday, Year 11 students took a cinematic journey into the world of Shakespeare, watching a special screening of Macbeth as part of their GCSE English studies at Cineworld in Newport. A big thank you to Mrs Smith for organising this excursion and all of the staff who attended and walked with the students to the cinema.

Our Year 11 students are continuing to attend their additional study sessions, gaining points on their Passport to the Prom and boosting their learning. There are extra revision sessions happening over half term and you can see the timetable here. Please encourage your child to attend and thank you to our amazing staff for running these sessions!

Year 9 Parents’ Evening is happening on Thursday 13 February. If you haven’t booked your appointments via the Arbor App yet, please do so. If you need help, please contact donna.keogh@carisbrooke.iow.sch.uk.

Today, we joined forces with schools across the Island for a special Mufti Day to support Arlo Lambie. We’re thrilled to announce that so far we have raised £732.98 and the total is still rising! Thank you to everyone who took part! We hope this contribution helps Arlo get the treatment he needs.

Next Friday evening, as we head into half term, Mrs Smith will be taking 46 Year 9 and 10 students to the theatre in Newport to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday 10 February for a Staff Development Day, so make sure to mark it in your calendars.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend! Enjoy, relax and recharge.
