Welcome to the penultimate blog for this term.

This week we have had our performances of Alice. The students have worked so hard during the year and their hard work has paid off! I went to both performances and was blown away by both. A massive thank you to Mr Lyle and Mrs Peckham for all their hard work putting the show together and to all the other staff that helped behind the scenes. It was a very professional performance. The performance interprets Alice’s journey as a psychotherapeutic escape from a very real tragedy. The team decided that the chosen charity for the production was Mountbatten Hospice. A full report on the performances with photos will be on our website next week.

Thank you for the donations for our community project with the Salvation Army - we had some lovely feedback about the students who helped create the hampers - "I just wanted to say what a wonderful group of students you brought along today. They all worked so hard, showed great enthusiasm and manners were spot on!"

Next week the festivities begin. We have our Christmas lunch on Wednesday for the students and, in the evening, the Christmas concert at The Minster in St Thomas' Square, Newport. This is free entry so come along and join in with the festivities. On Friday we have a Christmas themed mufti day, staff pantomime and the Santa Dash.

Whilst all of these events are exciting in the lead up to Christmas, lessons will remain as normal and we expect our usual good behaviour and uniform from the students.

Thank you to the parents who engaged with the toilet survey that was sent out. The feedback from students, staff and parents in the survey has been collated and will be discussed at student voice in the new year. We will share the outcome in due course.

As a reminder, the last day of term is Friday 20 December. This day will finish at the normal time of 3.15 pm. We come back to school on Monday 6 January 2025.
