Head of School's Blog - 11 October 2024

Half of the Year 7 cohort attended a trip today to the Roman Villa in Newport. Feedback from the trip was that the students found it very interesting and enjoyed learning about history outside of the classroom. The other half of the Year 7 students will be attending next Friday morning. Thank you to Mrs Randall for organising this experience.

An email was sent out last week to all parents/carers regarding flu vaccinations in school on 7 November. If you would like your child to receive the vaccination (nasal spray) and haven’t already clicked on the link in the email, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Next week we have another busy and exciting timetable. Our Year 7 students are looking forward to their disco on Thursday 17 October. If your child would like to attend and you haven’t already returned the consent form, please do so as soon as possible.

Next Thursday, we also have a trip to the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton for Year 8 and 10 students to see a production of War Horse and six Year 8 students will be attending the Faraday Challenge at Christ the King College.

Can I please remind parents/carers that if they come into school without an appointment, hoping to speak with a member of staff, this is not always possible. Our reception and admin team will do all they can to assist you but this may require them to make an appointment for you to return to school at a later date for a meeting.

As a reminder, school finishes on Friday 18 October for two weeks and students return to school on Monday 4 November.

We will be running some revision sessions for Year 11 students over the half term break. A letter with these sessions has also been emailed out to parents and can be viewed here. Please encourage your child to attend these sessions, where possible, as this will be invaluable support in assisting your child in their GCSE exams.

Congratulations to our highest achievement point winners last week, Amelia in Year 7, Emilia Year 8, Emily Year 9, Tayler Year 10 and Amy Year 11.

Have a lovely weekend.
