Head of School's Blog - 27 September 2024

I would like to start by congratulating our U16 football team for a great win on the mainland on Monday. Thank you again to Mr Peake and Mr Westby for organising and supervising the event. A full write up of the game can be found here: WestbyBall Takes Centre Stage in 12-1 Demolition

Rehearsals began for our Christmas school play on Wednesday evening. More details for this exciting event will be shared in a few weeks.

On Thursday, a group of Year 11 students attended the Royal Yacht Squadron Marine Careers Fair. They found this event extremely useful and insightful for their post 16 journey. Thank you to our Careers Assistant, Miss Magee for organising and supervising. I’m sure there will be plenty of other similar events this year and we hope that they will assist our Year 11 students in their decisions for life after Carisbrooke College.

A couple of emails have been sent out to parents/carers this week. One with a link to purchase school photos of students in Years 7, 9 and 11. The deadline for this is 8 October. Another regarding Free School Meals. If you need any assistance with either of these, please contact donna.keogh@carisbrooke.iow.sch.uk.

Next Tuesday, 1 October, we have our Open Evening. This event takes place from 5.00 - 8.00 pm and is to showcase our school to current Year 6 students and their parents/carers. I have had the privilege of visiting some of our feeder primary schools this week with Mrs Lythgoe, Maxi and Aleysha who are currently in Year 8 to invite them in.

We have been overwhelmed by the number of students offering their services as student helpers at the Open Evening. This is testament to the amazing students that we have in our school and also shows how positive and proud they are of their school environment. If your child has volunteered to help out, please ensure there is a plan in place for them to get home at 8.00 pm after the event.

Congratulations to our highest achievement point winners last week, Iris, Ethan and Jack in Year 7, Frankie Year 8, Jackson Year 9, Samuel Year 10 and Eleanor Year 11.

Have a lovely weekend.
